Há 30 anos atrás, a Inglaterra enfrentava uma maiores tragédias de seu futebol. 96 pessoas, entre crianças, homens e mulheres perderam a vida durante uma partida entre Liverpool e Nottingham Forest, por conta de uma superlotação nas arquibancadas. O dia ficou conhecido como a tragédia de Hillsborough (o nome do estádio).
Hoje, na cidade de Liverpool, às 15h06 (11h06 no horário de Brasília), a cidade prestou um minuto de silêncio. A hora escolhida foi o momento em que se deram conta da dimensão da tragédia. Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, City e outros clubes ingleses também prestaram homenagens, assim como jogadores e ex-jogadores e outras equipes da Europa.
